The writing is good, MM's prose is standard nothing evocative in it but since these books are short and he has an excellent sense of pacing and capable of writing atmospheric scenes, it makes for an enjoyable reading experience. I like this kind of thematic building because it gives room for the author to create cool mind candy and Moorcock does it really well. The world in a never ending cycle of struggle between Law and Chaos, new races trying to gain mastery over the domains and the old ones, past their prime and time dying a slow grim death.
